This story had a long history and many variations before it was told by Marie Hassenpflug and published in a compendium of folk tales collected by Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century.
I have taken the Grimm’s version as a starting point to explore sibling relationships through paintings, writing and animation. Like the original Grimm tales, I have not made this work specifically with children in mind but hope some children will enjoy the paintings and animations.
Here is a tiny doll’s house sized book for you to make, finish and colour. Hope you enjoy it! (You can download the image below, print it and follow the instructions – children will need help with the folding and there is a short video showing the techniques.)
