Giant Circles for All About Us

All About Us is an Arts Council of England funded project run by Trestle Theatre Company. It has included a festival of arts celebrating the creativity and resilience of the learning disabled community in St Albans and district.

The festival included a day of exciting visual art activities at Trestle Theatre. As part of this, I was invited to develop an art session. I worked with participants to create large scale collaborative circles exploring colour mixing with long bamboo brushes, along with individual smaller abstract circles exploring the joy and exuberance of working with pure colour.

Following the festival, in Spring 2023, came the exhibition, All About Us, at St Albans Museum and Gallery. The exhibition, still on at the time of writing, includes videos, personal stories, artwork and interactive elements along with some of the artwork from the art day, including the circles. We had another big circle day at the gallery for which visitors to the exhibition were invited to help create another collaborative circle, which changed gradually over four hours with the help of nearly 100 people, from ages 2 to 80.

Was delighted to be a part of this very exciting festival and exhibition.
