I’ve always loved clothes. Here’s a page about some of the clothes I wore in my teens and early twenties.
When I was at my tall studio at the Forge, Digswell, I made many larger than life drawings of myself as a child. Here’s one of me, aged about 10, in Spain on a visit to my grandfather. I’m not smiling because I am concentrating on communicating with my adult self across the years! (Not because I am or was miserable!) My memories are full of sun tan lotion (as we then called it), my brothers’ books, including a Biggles story, delicious food and a local bar that had a pinball machine, calamari and Fanta orange juice.
Baby
Been making drawings and paintings of my time as a young mother of babies – enjoyed everything about those times and been making celebratory drawings and paintings from photographs and memories; the pictures are evolving into small books – some to share and some to be hidden away until I’m even older to share with my old self! Here are some pictures of our eldest child when she was a few months old.
The Icing on The Cake
I found it difficult when our beautiful youngest daughter left home to go to university – was pleased for her but missed her daily presence woven into our home life – so the first year she was not with us for her birthday was always going to be difficult for me. I’ve drawn myself as a much younger person in this – occurred to me later that I drew myself at the age my daughter was on her birthday.
