About Jane Glynn
Artist/educator based in the United Kingdom.
After studying Fine Art (BA (Hons) University of Hertfordshire, 1990) began running art sessions for children and enjoyed it so much that I trained as a primary school teacher (PGCE, University of Hertfordshire, 1997) and taught for 10 years while my children were young.
Became fascinated by improvements to children’s achievements and wellbeing when they regularly had opportunities to work outside the classroom, allowing them to breathe and to be inspired by the unpredictability of the outdoor world in both built and natural environments. We spent lots of time in woodlands, the school grounds and parks as well as visiting real places of work like architects’ offices, artist’s studios and museums, galleries and theatres.
After taking an MA in Children’s Book Illustration (Anglia Ruskin, Cambridge, 2011) I left full-time teaching to develop my own art/education practice, initially with the support of a five year residency with Digswell Arts. I currently work with schools, museums and galleries helping children and adults to respond to exhibitions and collections through art whilst continuing to develop my own work.
My personal work includes an ongoing exploration of time passing through repeated daily drawing and making tasks, leading to sculptures, animations and performances.
